Stealth Gear, the leading providers of outdoor photography clothing and
accessories, are all set to become one of the very few online retailers to offer
photography clothing to a female audience.
Craig Derbyshire, managing director of Stealth Gear who specialise in providing
photographers suits, photography hides and wildlife watching supplies, to the UK
photography market, said, “Traditionally outdoor photography clothing was seen
as a male market, especially with hunting clothing being sold into the
photography market, so there are very few retailers out there who cater for the
female wildlife photographer.
“There is a huge gap in the market for such products and this is why we aim to
bring some balance to the industry with a brand new line.”
International photojournalist, Maria Kang, said, “If you think of outdoor
photography clothing, I have always thought of it as bulky and boring. Plus, I
have had this tilted image in my mind of wildlife photography being a man’s
sport. This is reinforced by the media and stereotypical male-female roles.
“It is really exciting and fun to be involved in designing a new range of
wildlife clothing. The range is gong to be practical, stylish and feminine, is
not stale and it is not stagnant. It will be quite a dynamic line and it is
great that Stealth Gear have taken the time out to invest in providing female
photographers with what they want.”
Available from September onwards, the new range of women’s outdoor photography
clothing and accessories will initially comprise of a ladies photography jacket
and trousers all in ladies sizing.
